Oligarch faces world’s largest divorce payout
A JUDGE in Switzerland has ordered Russian oligarch Dmitry Rybolovlev to pay his ex-wife SFr4bn (£2.7bn) following a six-year battle, making it the largest divorce settlement ever.
The lawyer acting on behalf of Elena Rybolovleva, Marc Bonnant, said she is “satisfied” with the ruling.
“Everything she asked for she was rightfully granted,” Bonnant told City AM. “She asked for half and has been granted half of what we proved to be his wealth.”
The court’s award was exactly £2,681,297,538.78.
Elena Rybolovleva has also been given custody of the couple’s 13-year-old daughter Anna, as well as a great deal of furniture and ornaments.
Rybolovlev, owner of AS Monaco FC, is known as the fertiliser king, and made his money in mining potash. He has 30 days to appeal the ruling and is expected to do so.
