Night of violence: Multiple stabbings across London in last 24 hours
London saw several acts of violence in the last 24 hours, leaving one man dead and two women in hospital as a result of knife crime.
In south London, a man believed to be in his 20s has died following a stabbing close to Brixton Underground station around 8:45pm.
Despite paramedics’ efforts, the victim was pronounced dead half an hour after suffering from a stab wound. His next in kin have been informed but no formal identification has taken place yet.
An investigation is underway and forensic teams are at the scene gathering evidence. Police have cordoned off the area and arrested one man nearby.
The stabbing arose from a confrontation between two groups “in a scene involving high-end sports cars, people in balaclavas and a quad bike,” according to reports from the BBC.
Meanwhile, in Hanwell in west London, a 28-year-old woman was rushed to the hospital after being stabbed in the back when returning home from work. Police were called to the scene at 6:14 pm. They have confirmed a 24-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.
Another young woman suffered from slash wounds in Bexley, southwest of the capital, around 5:28 pm. Police have confirmed the 19-year-old’s injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. Enquiries are ongoing but no arrests have been made.
