#nepalshirt: Buy a white shirt, help survivors of the Nepalese earthquake
Everyone needs a white shirt – now you can buy one and help survivors of the Nepalese earthquake, after the launch of a website that only sells one thing: crisp, white shirts.
For £50, you can own a white cotton shirt (either men's or women's), with 100 per cent of the profits going straight into helping Nepal.
The people behind it are the founders of online tailoring company A Suit That Fits, whose production has been based in Nepal since 2006.
David Hathiramani, one of ASTF's two co-founders and a co-founder of the new venture, NepalShirt.com, told City A.M. that while none of their manufacturing staff had been injured in the earthquake, setting up the business was an "obvious idea". (NB for ASFT customers – he also pointed out that all orders are fully on time, and they're taking orders as usual).
Although there's no guarantee of the delivery date for the shirts, the first 1,000 will be delivered in less than eight weeks, with the next 10,000 coming within three months.
Om Yogi, an ASTF tailor based in Kathmandu, who co-founded NepalShirt.com, added that 1m orders will raise £50m for Nepal.
"There must be a million people out there who need a white shirt," he pointed out.
