National Express revenue lifts
Transport group National Express said first half revenues grew across its bus and rail businesses at home and abroad and that it expects to continue performing well in the second half of the year.
“Building on our encouraging revenue growth in the first half year, I expect National Express to deliver a significant improvement in financial performance this year,” National Express chief executive Dean Finch said in a statement.
The company said revenues at its UK rail and coach units increased seven per cent in the six months to the end of June, with British bus sales rising six per cent.
Ticket sales in North America jumped 8 percent, helped by its acquisition of US bus firm Vogel, while its Spanish bus business continued to recover – seeing revenues rise seven per cent during the period.
The company, which earlier this year reached a truce with rebel investor Elliott Advisors after it called for a boardroom shake-up, said it was on course to improve full-year margins across all of its businesses and add to recent contract wins in North America and Spain.
