Murray’s ready for Mardy
TENNIS: British No1 Andy Murray admits he is satisfied with his early grass court season form as he prepares for his Aegon Championship quarter-final at Queen’s today.
The No1 seed needed just over an hour to dispose of Spain’s Guillermo Garcia-Lopez 6-4, 6-4 yesterday and now takes on Mardy Fish in the last eight after the American beat Spain’s Feliciano Lopez 6-1, 6-4.
Murray, the world No3, has settled down nicely so far on grass, and says he feels comfortable in front of his home crowd ahead of the forthcoming Wimbledon campaign.
“I’ve felt good in my the first two matches and I hope to feel the same against Mardy,” the Scot said. “It’s nice to have to whole crowd supporting you – it doesn’t happen at too many tournaments.
Also through to the last eight is No2 seed Andy Roddick, who edged past Lleyton Hewitt 7-6, 7-6.
