More than half of business leaders reach for their smartphone first thing in the morning – while 91 per cent read news on mobile devices
If the first thing you grab in the morning is your mobile, you’re not alone. New research by CNBC International has found six out of 10 business leaders reach for their smartphone as soon as they wake up.
You’re also not unusual if you’re scrolling through this story on something other than a computer, as the study discovered 91 per cent of global executives now have access to news and business content via their smartphone or tablet.
Weekday mornings are the most popular time for business execs to be browsing the news.
“With mobile saturation at an all-time high, we’re now seeing business executives shifting their attentions towards a more connected lifestyle,” said Mike Jeanes, director of research, EMEA at CNBC.
“With a slowdown in hardware innovation in 2015, the survey suggests that global executives are unlocking the potential of their technology to be more connected, more of the time. We could be witnessing the start of the next mobile renaissance.”
But our new switched-on lifestyle isn’t without a downside, as business executives have become more worried about cyber security, with more than one in eight feeling mobile data privacy and security is a concern.
