Mining company Vedanta sees record oil and gas production
Metals and mining company Vedanta has reported record oil and gas production in the second quarter of 2013. (Release)
The global business, which is the largest miner in India, saw 213,299 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boepd) produced over the period, ending 30 September. Mined metal production increased 16 per cent in the second quarter, having seen a 22 per cent increase in the first. Production of refined zinc, lead and silver are up for the company, too.
Production of mined metal decreased for the period in the company's Zambia operation after it suspended work at one of its plants – the second quarter figure was 34,000 tonnes, compared to 70,000 for the first half of 2013. Mined metal production in Vedanta's Australia operation was 6,000 tonnes for the second quarter.
