Londoners are the most likely to take work off to bag a bargain on Black Friday
Why work when you could shop?
It seems a healthy chunk of us have been asking ourselves that very question, and have decided to skip work for the year's biggest day of discounting – Black Friday.
According to a survey by discount retailer The Original Factory Shop (Tofs), seven per cent of us intend to take the day off work to make the most of Black Friday's mega-deals.
That figure rises to 10 per cent for Londoners, who will be charging to the West End to buy early Christmas presents at knock-down prices, and are the most likely to leave work to do some manic shopping.

As for any shopping-related aggression, the survey found that the people of Cardiff are the most likely to elbow another shopper to get their hands on a wide-screen TV or discounted designer bag. People in Edinburgh are least likely to resort to a fist-fight to get a good deal.
Many analysts have cautioned that the day will be bad for retailers. Businesses are, after all, about to launch their full-price Christmas ranges, so shoppers loading up on presents beforehand is not ideal. In addition, retailers have been heavily discounting this year already, and commentators have pointed out that it's high time companies take care of their margins over the bumper Christmas season.
