London women least likely to be employed in Great Britain
The employment of women is rising, while the employment of men over 40 is in decline, according to new figures from the Office for National Figures. Despite that fall in the employment of older men, men above 22 still have consistently higher employment rates than women.
In London and Northern Ireland rates of women in employment are lowest – making women in London the least likely to be employed in Great Britain.
Employment of women in the UK stood at 13.4m in April to June 2013, with 42 per cent of those working part time – compared to 15.3m men in employment, just 12 per cent of who work part time.
