Tondo dies after freak accident May 23, 2011 CYCLING: Spanish rider Xavier Tondo has died, aged 32, after a freak accident at a ski resort near Granada. Tondo won the Vuelta a Castilla y Leon in April. “He was an incredible person who loved this sport more than anyone,” said Tour de France champion Alberto Contador.
