Lawyers: Ready your mixing bowls and wooden spoons, because it’s time for London Legal Support Trust’s Great Legal Bake 2016
What do lawyers stash away in their briefcases? If you bump into a legal eagle this week, you might just find it's full of cupcakes.
Today marked the start of the London Legal Support Trust's Great Legal Bake 2016, which aims to raise money for free legal services in London and the south east, although bakers can opt to donate to a legal charity more local to them.
Last year's cake week saw more than 100 bake sales take place across England and Wales, where peckish lawyers and their pals helped to raise almost £15,000.
Notable names on the Great Legal Bake participant list for this year, which marks the fourth year the event has been run in, include the Supreme Court, BPP Law School and the Law Society. According to a tweet sent out early today, the cafe at the country's highest court has not one but three special cakes on the go in honour of the week.
The event runs from today until Friday, with the main day being on Wednesday. By the time the week draws to an end, the charity estimates that more than 170 bakes will have taken place in the name of justice.
