John Lewis sales up in Christmas run-in
John Lewis sales were up 4.3 per cent from Sunday to Wednesday compared with the same period last year – with jewellery and watches helping to fuel the rise.
The retailer has been giving regular trading updates which have been used as barometer for the performance of the sector.
In beauty products Molton Brown’s “A Tale of two Cities” range has been the top performer, while the Elle Macpherson is 15 per cent up on sales compared with last year.
John Lewis retail director Andre Murphy said: “Despite the continuing challenges from the weather in some areas of the country, this week has seen a pleasing uplift in in-store sales and continued strong performance online.”
