John Lewis picks tech winner
A START-UP that has developed a way to help retailers interact with shoppers by detecting when they walk into a store was pronounced the winner of John Lewis’s technology competition yesterday.
Localz was one of five start-ups given £12,500 of funding, offices and access to mentors including entrepreneur Luke Johnson as part of a technology incubator project launched by the retailer in May.
The company has won £100,000 to invest in its technology, which is designed to help shoppers by offering, for example, to trigger their Click & Collect order to be picked as they enter the shop. Localz’ concept will be trialled in John Lewis’s stores across the UK.
