Job hopes aid UK households
GROWING job security, improving personal finances and increased faith in the economic recovery have pushed consumer confidence to its highest level since the pre-crash years, according to a Nielsen study today.
The proportion feeling positive about their job prospects rose for the eight consecutive quarter to 45 per cent, the highest level since 2007.
The proportion who believe it is a good time to make purchases rose to 45 per cent, the highest level since the question was first asked in 2006.
Similarly, 50 per cent are upbeat about their personal finances, the highest since late 2007.
However, 51 per cent believe the UK is in recession, indicating the fragility the recovery and questioning whether it has spread to all groups.
