It’s everything I dreamt of, says golden girl Amy
OLYMPIC champion Amy Williams touched down on English soil sporting her gold medal yesterday and beamed: “it feels absolutely amazing”.
Williams, 27, claimed a historic gold in the skeleton last week to become Britain’s first solo Winter Olympics champion in 30 years.
“I don’t think I’ve got a sentence to describe the feeling – it’s absolutely amazing,” said Williams, who was Britain’s only medalist from the Games. “I can’t believe it’s real having the gold medal around my neck. It’s everything I’d dreamt of.
“It was amazing to be part of Team GB from the first moment of getting into the camp. We were united together and there was such a good vibe and excitement. We’re upset it’s finished but it’s nice to get back to life.”
Williams can now expect to live a new celebrity lifestyle, starting with a victory parade in her home town of Bath.
“I’m excited about getting to Bath, seeing friends and family and taking the medal back to them,” she added.
