Interserve lands £150m joint deal with University of Sussex
SUPPORT services and construction group Interserve has teamed up with the University of Sussex in a 10-year management deal worth £150m.
The New Year’s resolution – starting 1 January next year – will see the formation of Sussex Estates and Facilities, with Interserve providing the management and administration services for the contract.
Interserve’s roles will include providing cleaning, grounds and building maintenance, mailroom and postal services, security, car parking, and energy-saving improvements at the university.
The newly formed group will offer graduate and apprentice roles within its team, such as six trainee manager placements for undergraduates.
The partnership will also focus on reducing carbon emissions and staffing a new round-the-clock helpdesk.
John Duffy, University of Sussex registrar, said: “Sussex Estates and Facilities has been established to provide industry-leading support services that will improve the research and teaching environment for students and staff, as well as supporting the local economy.”
“Our students will benefit not just from the improvement in campus facilities and services, but through the opportunity for work placements and longer-term job opportunities with an experienced team.”
The University of Sussex, which has over 13,000 students and 2,200 staff, is based on the edge of Brighton, by the South Downs National Park.
