HSBC gets competitive at Corporate Challenge
HSBC was determined to get a good result in the JP Morgan Corporate Challenge race yesterday, entering almost twice as many runners in the race as any other firm.
The JP Morgan Corporate Challenge, an annual series of 5.63 km races organised by the firm that promote “fitness in the workplace”, saw its biggest turnout ever, with over 14,600 financiers going head-to-head last night.
HSBC’s competitive tactics paid off, after team-member Lara Bromilow was first to cross the finish line in the women’s heat in 20 minutes and 23 seconds. Meanwhile in the men’s heat, Capco’s Andy Greenleaf was victorious, finishing in 17 minutes 19 seconds.
HSBC was always more likely to take the crown, entering over 850 employees in the challenge; as many as Credit Suisse and PwC put together.
JP Morgan’s Alan Tieuli reckoned HSBC had one of the most competitive squads. He said: “Judging by the amount of people KPMG and HSBC had running, plus how highly they placed, they have a leg up over the other teams right now.”
KPMG’s James McMullan and Jonathan Bradford placed 2nd and 3rd in the men’s race.
The winning team will be announced tomorrow, after the second race is run by teams from Barclays and Commerzbank. Well Done!
