How tube strikes are hitting London’s economy
Disruption getting around London will likely have a "dampening impact" on London's economy.
IHS Global Insight's Howard Archer says that the main impact will be on the capital's shoppers, but this shouldn't result in a major loss, as consumers defer their purchases or choose to go online for their goods.
Tourism, restaurants and entertainment in London should also see a blow.
As for those trying to get to work, advance warnings mean that many will have been able to organise work from home or will have found other ways to get around the City.
Others may have chosen to use leave to cover the period, and those who are still trying to brave the underground "will likely struggle through."
Archer says that the overall impact should be limited, and that the present effect should be modest and temporary.
Of course, if we see more strike action over the coming weeks then "the greater is the potential hit to activity."
