Horse racing betting: Sea Of Heaven set to leave rivals toiling in his wake
Trainer Sir Mark Prescott has been among the winners of late and I’m confident he can grab another with SEA OF HEAVEN in Friday's John Guest Brown Jack Stakes (2.55pm) at Ascot.
The four-year-old ran a cracker at Newbury last week, finishing second behind the highly progressive Sweet Selection who was rattling off a hat-trick.
He was unfortunate to bump into one that day and is due to go up to a mark of 89 next week.
However, the son of Sea The Stars has the opportunity to exploit his former mark of 86 today, while he should also appreciate the slight drop back in trip.
Only out of the first two once in his last seven starts, I’m confident he’ll run well.
Elsewhere on the card, it looks worth siding with IRISH ROOKIE in the Listed Valiant Stakes (3.30pm) as she bids to build on an impressive performance at Newmarket this month.
She finished fourth in the Group One Falmouth Stakes, a race won in record time by the impressive Alice Springs.
Martyn Meade’s runner was 50/1 that day and, although she’ll be much shorter in the betting today, she looks the one to beat.
Lastly, I can see the Jamie Osborne-trained SHAMSHON running well in the SIS Live Handicap (4.35pm).
Osborne is in great form at the moment, notching a treble at Sandown on Wednesday night with Jamie Spencer proving inspired in the saddle.
The combination links up again with Shamshon who comes into the race fresh off the back of a comfortable win at Chelmsford.
Betway are giving money back as a free bet if your selection is beaten into second by a runner priced bigger than 10/1 at Ascot today.
