Henson enjoys capital gains
SARACENS recent signing Gavin Henson is yet to make his debut for the club, but the Wales international is already thinking of extending his stay in the capital beyond the end of the current season.
The 28-year-old (right) is set to make his eagerly awaited first Sarries appearance at Wembley in the Boxing Day clash against Wasps, 21 months on from his last competitive outing.
With his passion for the sport reignited, Henson signed a deal with Saracens until the end of the current campaign and is enjoying London life so much, he sees no reason to seek an imminent return to Wales.
He said: “I moved from Wales for personal reasons. It was tough for me after splitting with my wife. I was pretty cut up at the time and didn’t think the Welsh media had been particularly kind to me.
“Saracens are a great team with great facilties and it’s a great environment so hopefully it will be good for me.
“If it does work in London then I’ve got no reason to go back.”
After nearly two years out of the rugby spotlight, Henson could be forgiven for wanting to make his comeback in more low-key surroundings, but the player thinks differently.
“This is the best place to make a comeback. It’ll be great. There’ll be 50,000 all here to come and see my comeback. It’s what it’s all about.”
