Hatton:I will probably return to ring but don’t have fire back in my belly yet
BRITISH former two-weight world champion Ricky Hatton has given his biggest hint yet that he will return to the ring.
The Manchester-born fight has been considering retirement since his savage second-round knockout defeat to six-weight title-holder Manny Pacquiao in May.
Hatton is currently working as a promoter for his own company, Hatton Promotions, but the 30-year-old believes his desire to fight will return.
Hatton said: “I’m busy at the minute with my promoting and I’m here, there and everywhere doing different things such as my theatre tours and stuff like that. I’m just basically having a rest.
“To do this game with the training, fighting and dieting, it really is hard work and you’ve really got to have that fire in the belly to do it. I don’t really have that at the moment.
“I think after a good rest and a good recharge of the batteries I might start getting itchy feet and I’m sure I’ll probably give it another go. But at the minute I’m just going to sit back and have a rest, and what will be will be.”
His crushing loss to Pacquiao was only his second in an illustrious career, after falling to pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather Jr in December 2007.
Meanwhile, a super-fight between Mayweather and Pacquiao is expected next year should the latter overcome the durable Miguel Cotto in November, when they meet for the WBO welterweight title.
