Two-thirds of Brits have named Boris Johnson as the “ghastliest figure of the 21st Century”, setting the scene for “hordes of mini Borises” this Halloween, according to the Beano.
The survey, by children’s media company Beano Kids, also found that British children thought Boris Johnson was the second-scariest celebrity.
Just under half of children aged six to 14 said the Prime Minister was frightening, putting him just behind first-placed US President Donald Trump.
The pair beat out figures such as Vladimir Putin, Kim Jon Un and Marilyn Manson for the top spots.
The Prime Minister was the 10th-most popular costume for children between the ages of six and 14 this year in the poll.
This came amidst the finding that 54 per cent of British families were using Brexit as Halloween inspiration.
Jack Waterson, seven, has chosen to recreate the moment when the then-mayor of London got stuck on a zipwire during the 2012 London Olympics. He is donning a harness and helmet, while brandishing two Union Jack flags.
Jamison McCarthy, 10, is dressing up to recreate the infamous photograph of Johnson when he was a member of Oxford’s notorious Bullingdon Club.
Presely Kempson, aged seven, is going as “biking Boris”, inspired by the prime minister’s love for cycling.
Mike Stirling, editorial director of Beano Studios, said: “Kids today are far more clued up as to what’s going on in the world.
“With Brexit on everyone’s lips, it’s unsurprising that we’ll be seeing a horde of mini Borises taking over the streets of the UK this Halloween, with a Jeremy Corbyn or two.”
