Gurney targets World Cup spot
ENGLAND seamer Harry Gurney believes variation could prove key to him menacing Sri Lanka and ultimately booking his place at next year’s World Cup.
Peter Moores’ side, deprived of the injured James Anderson and Stuart Broad, face the first of two warm-up games against Sri Lanka A tomorrow ahead of a seven-match series. And Gurney is conscious frontline exposure in the subcontinent represents an early audition for England’s opening World Cup date with hosts Australia in Melbourne in February.
Gurney said: “I’m the only left-armer involved here. When the selectors sit down to pick that squad, I hope I get my place.”
