Christmas markets London 2015: Guildhall in the City gears up for the season
Want to know something depressing? Christmas is only 33 days away. But don’t worry, the folks at Guildhall are here to help, as the British Red Cross Christmas market hits the historic plaza next week.
Packed with everything from basket-weaving to haute couture from British designers like Amanda Wakeley, this year City dwellers need only pop over to Old Jewry to sort out all of the presents in one hit, while taking in some festive music and freebies.
At the helm of this year’s fayre is former City Livery Club president and Currencies Direct director Neil Redcliffe, along with wife Emma, who’s had to take the lead after Mr Redcliffe admitted shopping is “a very new experience” for him.
Open to the public for one day only, the Guildhall Christmas Market will take place on Tuesday 1 December. Tickets are only £5, but they’re selling fast – probably because they include a glass of wine on entry to Guildhall’s courtyard.
As well as having over 100 stalls to choose from to secure the kids’ gifts, there’s also loads of free stuff on offer to make the shopping experience a little more bearable than Oxford Street in December. Market-goers can go for free coffee and chocolate tastings, learn to weave baskets, get some beauty TLC at a special “relaxation station” and watch a fashion show. That’s more like it.
