GT reveals non-executives
GRANT Thornton (GT) has become the first large accounting firm to comply with new governance rules by revealing its new non-executives.
The three non-executives are Richard Eyre, chairman of the Eden Project; Caroline Goodall, a consultant to law firm Herbert Smith; and Ed Warner chairman of UK Athletics.
The UK’s biggest eight audit firms – Baker Tilly, BDO, Deloitte, Ernst & Young, Grant Thornton, KPMG, PKF and PwC – were asked to appoint non-executives in January following publication of the world’s first Audit Governance Code.
The obligation is designed to reduce the risk of an auditor collapsing, while also bringing the firms’ governance more into line with the rules followed by publicly listed companies.
