Google to compile financial data
Google is planning to launch a new measure of inflation collated from online shopping data, to be known as the Google Price Index (GPI). It’s part of a public data project that will see the search giant release new ways for users to collate information from a multitude of sources. A list of the top 20 potential projects – compiled by Google from data about what things users were searching for most and what services they would therefore require – includes information on oil prices, exchange rates, GDP growth, unemployment, wages and sales tax.
