German student dies in London during BAML summer internship
A SUMMER intern at Bank of America Merrill Lynch died last Thursday, police confirmed yesterday.
Moritz Erhardt, a 21-year old German and a student at the WHU school of management, was found dead at his student accommodation in Bethnal Green.
He has interned in previous years at other City institutions.
“We are deeply shocked and saddened by the news of Moritz Erhardt’s death,” said a spokesperson for Bank of America Merrill Lynch. “He was popular amongst his peers and was a highly diligent intern at our company with a promising future. Our first thoughts are with his family and we send our condolences to them at this difficult time.”
Erhardt’s cause of death is as yet unknown and an autopsy is expected to be carried out in the coming days.
The bank is understood to have a range of intern-welfare schemes in place, including buddying and mentoring systems.
