Gemfields’ auction revenues rise
Aim-listed precious stones miner Gemfields yesterday said its latest emeralds auction in Jaipur, held from 28 April to 2 May, made revenues of $13.5m (£7.95m), a 59 per cent increase over the prior auction last year. “Thanks to favourable market conditions and strong demand for higher quality emeralds, we have generated another solid trading profit and it was pleasing to see the contribution made by Brazilian emeralds,” said chief executive Ian Harebottle.
