Galliford Try housing sales reach record high after strong season
GALLIFORD Try said yesterday that housing sales had leapt by 21 per cent to a record £585m after a strong autumn selling season.
The British housebuilding and construction group said £485m of those sales were for the current financial year to 30 June 2014, up 33 per cent on last year.
Sales prices have increased by between one and three per cent since start of the year, although Galliford said this varied between different parts of the country.
In a trading statement for the period from 1 July to 18 November, Galliford’s general construction arm reported that its order book had risen to £1.75bn from £1.6bn the same time last year.
It has also secured 93 per cent of its revenues for the current year and 55 per cent for the following year to June 2015.
“Both our housebuilding and construction divisions have made an encouraging start to the financial year,” Galliford’s chief executive Greg Fitzgerald said.
“On the back of an improving housing market and the excellent location of our sites, the autumn selling season has been strong,” he added.
Like its housebuilding peers the group has been buying more land as rising house prices and government measures raise hopes of a boom in sales. Its landbank increased by 24 per cent to a record 13,000 plots.
