French jobless at record high
THE OFFICIAL number of French jobseekers soared by 31,500 in February, according to figures released yesterday that deal a blow to President Francois Hollande.
There are now nearly 3.35m unemployed people in France seeking work – up by around 150,000 compared to a year earlier.
Hollande is thought to be preparing a reshuffle of his Socialist party ministers, which could come before the European elections at the end of May.
