Former Yahoo boss lands plum ITV job
FORMER European Yahoo executive Fru Hazlitt is to join ITV to run the broadcaster’s TV and online sales business in a move designed to better link the company’s different platforms.
Hazlitt, who previously ran the radio group GCap Media and commercial operations for Yahoo in the UK and Europe, will take up the newly-created role to develop online sales as the company looks to diversify and develop new revenue streams.
ITV chief executive Adam Crozier said: “Fru’s background is in general management. Her proven commercial skills and her online experience with Yahoo make her the ideal candidate for this pivotal new role.
“We need to get better at exploiting our brands fully across all platforms and reducing our reliance on a single volatile revenue stream.
“She is renowned for her tremendous energy, her understanding of both media and technology and her ability to deliver real change and results on the ground.”
ITV has been working for several years to develop its online offering, by using exclusive content from its popular shows such as the X-Factor to draw in new viewers and advertisers.
ITV is working on a new strategic review under Crozier, who joined the firm in April. Hazlitt will start work on 2 August.
