Flower vows to breathe new life into England
ENGLAND team director Andy Flower is determined to rejuvenate the Test side after reaffirming his commitment to the role.
The immediate futures of Flower and captain Alastair Cook were in doubt following the conclusion of the fifth Ashes Test in Sydney yesterday where England lost by 281 runs, completing a whitewash 5-0 series defeat.
But the former Essex wicketkeeper is not prepared to end his largely successful five-year tenure on a low note.
“I like to feel pride about the way we go about things and I don’t feel proud right now,” said Flower.
“This has been a bad loss and as part of our review we will be looking at playing personnel.
“It does feel like the end of some type of era. This will be a new start for the England cricket team.”
Meanwhile, all-rounder Chris Woakes has been added to the England squad for the one-day international series which begins in Melbourne on 12 January.
