First Group stays on track
TRANSPORT operator FirstGroup yesterday said its overall trading was meeting its expectations, with weakness in its Greyhound bus operations in America offset by growth in UK rail and US First Transit.
In a trading update, it added that its plan to turn around several of its units was continuing to make progress.
Last year, First lost five bids for rail franchises in Britain, including Scot Rail and the reprivatised East Coast Main Line.
In the US, it warned that demand for its Greyhound services had been hit over the holiday season by the sharp fall in fuel prices, which made car travel more affordable.
