Ex-Barclays boss Martin Taylor lined up as possible Lloyds chair
VETERAN financier and corporate chairman Martin Taylor could take over from Sir Win Bischoff as the chairman of Lloyds Banking Group, it emerged over the weekend.
Taylor was chief executive of Barclays in the 1990s, followed by a stint as chairman of high street giant WH Smith as well as six years spent as an adviser to Goldman Sachs.
He has also worked in an official capacity on government commissions, including the Independent Commission on Banking under Sir John Vickers, coming up with proposals to shake up the banking system in the wake of the financial crisis.
Sir Win will only step down at the group’s annual general meeting in 2014, leaving time for a replacement to be found, with Taylor on the list according to Sky News.
Lloyds Banking Group declined to comment on the selection process.
