Euro area retail sales fall again
Retail sales across the Eurozone dropped at their fastest rate since last October, research firm Markit said yesterday. Markit’s latest purchasing managers’ index showed high street sales slipping for the fourth straight month in the 17 nation single currency area. The index fell to 48 in August, signalling a contraction in sales revenues. Germany saw sales growth, but revenues fell in both Italy and France.
