England ring the changes for one-day fixtures
ENGLAND captain Alastair Cook and several of his Ashes heroes have been rested for the one-day matches against Ireland and Australia, which begin next week.
Cook, fellow batsman Ian Bell and key bowlers James Anderson, Graeme Swann and Stuart Broad will sit out all of the 50-over games.
Batsmen Kevin Pietersen, Joe Root and Jonathan Trott will only miss the clash with Ireland on Tuesday. Eoin Morgan will captain England for all six one-day games.
Pacemen Chris Jordan, of Sussex, and Jamie Overton, of Somerset, are among five uncapped players in the squad, along with fellow seamer Boyd Rankin and batsmen Michael Carberry and Gary Ballance.
Before then England take on Australia in two Twenty20 clashes, the first of which takes place in Southampton tomorrow evening. Cook’s Test side completed a 3-0 Ashes series triumph at the Oval on Sunday.
