Eat like an Oscars star: Now Aldi is selling Wagyu beef burgers
We've had luxury wine, scallops and lobsters. Now Aldi is offering British customers Wagyu burgers – one of the most expensive types of beef – at knock down prices.
For a limited time only the discount grocer will sell the premium products, made from New Zealand grass-fed cattle – for £2.99 for two.
In high-end restaurants Wagyu – renowned for high quality marbling – goes for more than 10-times that. Aldi said it was inspired by the menu at the Oscars ball, where A-list Hollywood stars were treated to mini Waguy burgers served with aged Cheddar cheese.
The burgers hit stores on March 5 (Thursday), and are only available while stocks last.
Managing director of corporate buying Tony Baines, said: “We wanted to offer something new that would excite our customers.”
