Cole dazzles Kop as Reds coast to easy Europa win
LIVERPOOL (2) vs RABOTNICKI (0)
JOE COLE sparkled on his debut as Liverpool eased their way into the Europa League play-off draw with a comfortable victory over Rabotnicki.
The England midfielder crossed for David Ngog to head home his third goal of the tie and then hit the woodwork himself as the Reds enjoyed a relatively comfortable night against the Macedonians.
Captain Steven Gerrard then slotted home the second from the penalty spot after Ngog was brought down, but it was Cole’s performance which brought the Kop to its feet.
“I was nervous before the game but it’s always like that when you go to a new club,” the former Chelsea man said. “I enjoyed it, I needed the 90 minutes.”
