Clegg claims Gove was behind a story alleging the Queen was pro-Brexit

According to Nick Clegg, it was Michael Gove who leaked a story claiming that Her Majesty was pro-Brexit – views later denied by Buckingham Palace.

The palace made a complaint to the press regulator IPSO and said in a statement that the Queen "remains politically neutral". The story claimed the monarch had had a conversation with Clegg in which her views on Brexit were made clear. At the time, Clegg said he had no recollection of the conversation.
The documentary, Brexit: The Battle for Britain, will air on BBC Two on Monday evening.
