City watchdog hires new boss to hunt down market manipulators
TOP INVESTMENT banker Julia Hoggett will head up the investigations into market abuses like Libor fiddling and alleged foreign exchange fixing, the Financial Conduct Authority said yesterday.
Hoggett joins from Bank of America Merrill Lynch where she heads up debt capital markets commercial paper, covered bonds and green bonds in Europe, the middle east and Africa.
She also worked at the Bank of Ireland and JP Morgan.
The role at the FCA was vacant for some months after a shake-up of the unit.
Hoggett will work under Will Amos, the regulator’s FCA’s director of wholesale banking and investment management.
She is the latest big appointment in a series for the FCA, which appointed ex-Kleinwort Benson boss Robert Taylor in January and former Goldman Sachs managing director James Kelly last month.
