CITY VIEWS: WHERE DO YOU THINK HOUSE PRICES WILL GO IN THE NEXT FEW MONTHS?
SUNIL KESUR | SELF-EMPLOYED TRADER
“I’d estimate house prices will rise. Personally, I think a double dip isn’t going to happen, contrary to what a lot of people say. House prices have always been the first to bounce back, even if they might have to go down in the near term.”
KEITH ABERCROMBY | LV
“I’m fairly bearish on property. The number of properties on the books is going up and so I’m not hopeful for prices. There are low volumes so the results are volatile month-to-month. I think next summer will be the trough in prices.”
RICHARD DEEM | OPENREACH
“In general I believe they’ll continue to go down and as long as the economy in general is not going anywhere, property won’t go anywhere. We might see a turn-up in spring – assuming the economy picks up. Otherwise, they’ll stay where they are for a long time.”
MILES OSORIO | MONTPELIER SYNDICATE & LLOYDS
“I hope house prices will recover but I don’t see any particular reason why they would. I think London is sheltered from it to some degree but overall, despite some signs of recovery, the latest figures don’t make pleasant reading.”
