PZ Cussons
The personal care firm has appointed Richard Harvey, the former chief executive of insurance giant Aviva, as its new chairman-elect.
Harvey became group chief executive of Norwich Union in 1998 and took up his role at Aviva after the merger of Norwich Union with CGU, initiating the re-branding of the group under the Aviva name. He was also previously chair of the Association of British Insurers.
Trafalgar Capital Management
The hedge fund manager has appointed Josh Jacobson as a partner and senior portfolio manager, to work alongside chief executive Chris Aarons on the Trafalgar Trading Fund.
Jacobson was previously a partner and portfolio manager at Cheyne Capital, where he managed a European long/short equity portfolio for the Cheyne Value Fund. He has also worked at JP Morgan and Salomon Brothers.
KBC Peel Hunt
The stockbroker has recruited James Steel and Vijay Barathan to its healthcare investment banking team as a director and associate respectively.
Steel has worked at Piper Jaffray for the past eight years, where he helped to build a leading healthcare practice.
Barathan, a former trained medical doctor, also worked at Piper Jaffray after spending three years working in the NHS.
Hill and Smith
The road and rail infrastructure firm has appointed Bill Whiteley as its new chairman.
Whiteley spent the majority of his career to date at international engineering group Rotork, where he was chief executive between 1996 and 2008. He is also currently a non-executive director at Spirax Sarco Engineering, Brammer and Renishaw.
NB Real Estate
The property group has hired Neil Connelly as a divisional director in its building consultancy team.
Connelly joins from building consultancy HHY, a division of commercial property agent EA Shaw, where he was a partner.
He has previously acted on behalf of a wide range of clients, including Aberdeen Property Investors, Great Portland Estates, Derwent London, Prestbury Holdings and Royal London Asset Management.
Lewis Silkin
The law firm has appointed Ellen Temperton as a partner in its employment and incentives department.
Temperton joins from Baker and McKenzie in London, where she was a partner and a leader in the employment dispute resolution and discrimination practice.
She is a specialist in employment tribunal and High Court litigation matters, with a particular emphasis on discrimination, executive departures, data protection and privacy issues.
