ARCHANT
The media giant has appointed Mike Walsh, a leading figure in the worlds of advertising, brand marketing and charities, to its main Board as a non-executive director.
Walsh is currently a director at advertising agency Ogilvy and Mather South Africa and a non executive at global brand identity and design company, The Brand Union.
Formerly a main board director of Ogilvy & Mather Worldwide for 16years, he was also, for 12 years, chief executive of their Europe, Middle East and African operations. He has worked on brands such as Heinz baked bean, Cadbury and Baileys Irish Cream.
Walsh said: “I am delighted to be joining Archant; it is a progressive regional media company.”
HERBERT SMITH
The law firm has Hired Dan Schaffer, one of the City’s leading pensions lawyers, to its partnership.
He moves from Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer where he became a partner in 1998.
His practice covers all aspects of occupational pensions law with particular focus on corporate advisory and transactional work.
Schaffer has chaired the Association of Pension Lawyer’s International Committee.
He is also is currently a member of the Association’s Legislative & Parliamentary Committee.
Schaffer is the fourth lawyer in 2010 to join Herbert Smith’s partnership.
CBRE
The property firm has appointed Robert Silvester as the head of its City of London investment team.
Silvester joins from Rock Asset Management, where he was responsible for more than £850m of commercial real estate transactions, and a portfolio valued at £250m, according to Property Week.
Silvester has 16 years of City investment experience and helped set up King Sturge’s City Investment team.
At Rock Asset Management, Silvester was responsible for sourcing and negotiating transactions. His role also included structuring and sourcing debt and equity, asset managing and directing the sales process.
