The property asset management firm has appointed John Clare, the former chief executive of Dixons Group, as its new chairman, effective from the end of June.
Clare is currently the chairman of JJB Sports and bed retailer Dreams.
He held the top job at Dixons 14 years between 1993 and 2007, and was also previously a non-executive director at real estate group Hammerson between 1988 and 2009.
Societe Generale
The bank has appointed Jan Caspar Hoffmann as head of mergers and acquisitions in Germany and Alessandro Franzosi as co-head of M&A in Italy.
Hoffmann joins from Merrill Lynch Global Private Equity in London, where he was responsible for the German business.
Franzosi was previously at Morgan Stanley in Milan, where he was a managing director predominantly covering M&A transactions.
Ambrian Partners
The specialist investment bank has hired Simon Hawkins as head of oil and gas research, focusing on mid and large cap exploration and production stocks.
Hawkins joins from the specialist independent oil and gas research firm Omni Investment Research, which he founded. He has also worked as an analyst at UBS and Dresdner Kleinwort and in economics and finance for Royal Dutch Shell.
He is joined by former Omni colleague Sam Woodward, who will be responsible for company modelling and commodity price forecasts.
King & Spalding
The law firm has poached a team of five energy transaction lawyers from Hogan Lovells to join its London office.
The team includes partners Garry Pegg and Hywel Jones; Nina Howell, who joins as counsel; and associates Leon Sosnowski and Susanna Marshall.
Pegg will also serve as co-managing partner of King & Spalding in London.
Russell Investments
The financial services group has hired Tom Richardson as a research analyst in its London office, as part of a global hiring drive.
Richardson will join the private real estate research team and will be primarily tasked with researching and ranking European real estate funds.
He joins from Cushman & Wakefield Investors.
SEB Denmark
The Denmark branch of European banking group SEB has appointed Mark Luscombe as head of client relationship management and deputy head of merchant banking.
Luscombe was previously country officer and head of banking at Citigroup in Denmark. He is due to take up his new position in the autumn.
SEB opened its Denmark operations in 1997 as a corporate finance and capital markets specialist, servicing institutions such as pension and insurance companies and asset managers.
