Advertising Association
Gavin Patterson, chief executive of BT Retail, has been appointed as president of the Advertising Association, the representative body for marketing communications in the UK, representing agencies, media companies and advertisers. In his new role as president, Patterson will bring the three sectors together to champion the role of advertising and protect its rights. Prior to BT, Patterson developed his marketing experience at Procter & Gamble and Telewest.
Karen Millen
The British fashion brand has appointed Lynn Ritson as its first e-commerce director to lead the global strategy for Karen Millen’s website. Ritson joins Karen Millen from All Saints, where she was also e-commerce director.
WSP Environment & Energy
The global consultancy has promoted Ian Bailey to lead the organisation’s European region as managing director, following his appointment as strategic director for Europe in January. Bailey was formerly president and chief operating officer for Europe at Environ.
Betfair
The online gaming business has appointed Ian Chuter as group operations director and Michael Bischoff as director of information systems. Chuter joins following a nine-year career at William Hill, where he was group head of international and UK operations. Bischoff joins from LCH.Clearnet, where he was director of global technical services.
Future Capital Partners
The investment boutique has appointed Robert Jolliffe in a senior investment advisory capacity, initially to develop the Sanctuary Fund. Jolliffe joins from The Princedale Partnership, the investment consultancy he founded in 2008.
Portmeirion
The homeware manufacturer has appointed Michael Haynes as UK managing director. Haynes, who has been promoted from group sales and marketing director, joined Portmeirion in 2004.
Irwin Mitchell
John Nicholson, formerly a partner at Speechly Bircham, has joined Irwin Mitchell as a partner to boost its family law team. Nicholson will shortly be joined by colleague Kate Clark, an assistant who worked alongside Nicholson at Speechly Bircham.
Ropes & Gray
Tax lawyer John Baldry, formerly of Kirkland & Ellis, has joined Ropes & Gray as a partner in the law firm’s tax and benefits department.
