Cushman & Wakefield
Global real estate services firm Cushman & Wakefield has recruited Derrick Bock as head of workplace strategy in Germany in the firm’s global occupier services EMEA team. With over 20 years’ experience in corporate workplace design, Derrick will focus on workplace strategy for clients in Europe, assisting multinational corporations to devise and implement engaging, effective and efficient workplaces. Prior to joining Cushman & Wakefield, Derrick was head of workplace design at eBay. Derrick said: “I’m very pleased to be joining Cushman & Wakefield at such an exciting stage in its development and look forward to leading the team in Germany as we expand our consultancy services.”
Market Tech
Market Tech, the holding company specialising in e-commerce and real estate assets, has made three new additions to its board. David Brown has been appointed chief financial officer, to be effective during March 2016; Georg Bucher will join as head of corporate development, effective 1 February 2016; and Sharon Baylay is set to join as an independent non-executive director, also effective 1 February 2016. David joins from Greene King where, since 1988, he undertook a number of finance roles, most recently corporate finance director. Georg joined the group as head of corporate development and capital markets in June 2015 and has played a central role in Market Tech’s M&A expansion and the Market Tech digital strategy. Sharon is currently a non-executive director of ITE Group and Restore, and non-executive chairman of Dot Net Solutions. She was previously the marketing director and a main board director of the BBC from 2009-2011 with responsibility for all aspects of marketing, communications and audiences, as well as a non-executive director of BBC Worldwide, Freesat UK and Digital UK. Sharon joined the BBC after 15 years at Microsoft.
Broadgate Estates
Property management company Broadgate Estates has appointed Polly Plunket-Checkemian to the newly created role of strategy director. Polly’s role will be multi-faceted, the company said. She will help to develop the firm’s client proposition and their competitive advantage in the management marketplace and will also build on its “existing thought leadership to ensure the company leads the industry in property management best practice and innovation”. She joins Broadgate from Cushman & Wakefield, where she was an equity partner and held several senior roles since 2003, and has also worked for Hammerson and CB Hillier Parker.
