Peel Hunt
Peel Hunt, the independent corporate broking, advisory and trading house focused on UK mid and small caps, is pleased to announce the appointment of Simon Gardner-Bond (pictured) to the role of natural resources specialist sales, effective immediately. Simon joins from Investec Asset Management, where he worked for five years as a senior analyst covering the metals & mining industries. Previously he spent four years at specialist metals & mining broker Ocean Equities (now Pareto Securities) as lead mining analyst and head of research, following a three year post at Argent Partners. Simon graduated from the University of Liverpool with a degree in geology and physical geography and has a Masters in mineral exploration from Imperial College, London.
ICBC Standard Bank
Financial markets and commodities bank ICBC Standard Bank has appointed Chris Whittle as head of energy derivatives origination. He joins from Hetco where he was head of European oil marketing. Before this, Chris was at UBS for six years, where he created and led the global OTC energy marketing and origination team. In his new role, Chris will be in charge of driving the progress of the energy derivatives business, formulating strategy and developing the client portfolio. He will be based in London, and will report to will report to John Xu, head of energy and bulk commodities.
Nexus CIFS
Nexus CIFS, the specialist trade credit insurance subsidiary of leading independent specialty MGA Nexus Underwriting Management Group, has appointed Nicola Slater as commercial underwriter. Nicola joins from Aon, where she spent 20 years after a 10 year accounting career, and will be based in the Midlands where she will be responsible for the Midlands and south west whole turnover trade credit renewal book and broker relationships, as well as supporting business development in the region.
Broadgate Estates
Property management firm Broadgate Estates has appointed Stephanie Handley as portfolio director. Stephanie joins Broadgate Estates from Aberdeen Asset Management, where she was head of property management for Europe. She was previously an asset manager at Stanton Investments and prior to this was senior property manager at Deloitte where she led the creation of the in-house property department. She qualified in 1997 having worked at Fletcher King as property manager.
