City gears up for big Giving Day
BOSSES from 80 City firms gathered at Mansion House yesterday morning to see the launch of City Giving Day.
Lord Mayor of London Alan Yarrow hosted the launch, joined by bosses at Barclays, Linklaters and UBS, to discuss how to bring philanthropy to the whole of London.
City Giving Day, taking place on 30 September, will celebrate the charity work undertaken by firms in London’s financial districts and the charities each business or organisation supports.
The Lord Mayor’s Appeal aims to secure the involvement of 100 companies in City Giving Day, raising over £2m for its own beneficiary charities.
Barclays assistant vice president Mike Hill told The Capitalist that the bank will be supporting a wide range of causes. “Each of our branches will do something different. Larger charities are important but when you help a smaller charity it can feel like a bigger impact on something you feel passionate about.” Dig deep!
