City boss: We’ll keep up chase
MANCHESTER City boss Manuel Pellegrini has rallied his team ahead of tonight’s clash with bottom club Sunderland, insisting his players still believe they can catch Premier League title rivals Liverpool.
Sunday’s 3-2 defeat at Anfield handed the runaway Reds further momentum and a seven-point lead over City, though Pellegrini’s men have two games in hand and, he maintains, will fight to the last.
“I think the team knows perfectly what they have to do,” said the Chilean, who revealed midfielder Yaya Toure is out for up to two weeks. “We lost that game but we have still to play six games more and we will fight to the end to win the title. If we don’t do it, it is because Liverpool will win their four games, but I don’t think some things change after the game on Sunday.”
