Citigroup announces appointment of two new co-heads of EMEAbanking
US BANK Citigroup has appointed two new co-heads of banking in Europe, the Middle East and Asia, it said yesterday.
James Bardrick, 47, and Manuel Falco, 45, both veterans of the company will assume their new responsibilities with immediate effect.
Bardrick, who has spent 22 years with Citi, will move from his role as co-head of global industrials banking, while Falco, with the bank for 11 years, vacates the position of head of Iberia banking and will relocate to London. The bank said it would announce replacements for the pair “in due course”.
Both men will work on Citigroup’s new “client-centric” strategy, as the group focuses on core banking activities after it struggled amid the financial crisis and had to be bailed out with $45bn (£28.5bn) of state aid. The pair will also be members of the executive committee on global banking.
“Citi is well-positioned to capitalise on the global recovery due in part to our unmatched global footprint in emerging and developed markets around the world,” the bank said in a statement.
